Astral Aviation is a licensed cargo airline that acquired its Air Operators Certificate (AoC) and Air Service License (ASL) from the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority in the year 2001, and was subsequently designated as a cargo airline, by the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kenya in November 2006.
Astral Aviation's Head Office and Base is situated at the Africa Flight Services Cargo Terminal at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi.
Operating safely in the blue skies of Africa for over 15 years, Astral Aviation provides reliable and cost-effective airfreight solutions using a combination of schedule and charter flights within its intra-African and European network.
Astral operates a fleet of Fokker 27 (5 tons), DC9-30F (15 tons) and B727-200F (24 tons) Freighter within its intra-African network, in addition to a wet-leased B747-400F Freighter on the Nairobi - London and Liege sector.
Within its intra-African network, which encompasses 50 destinations, Astral operates a combination of scheduled and adhoc charters along with value-added leasing services. Its interline agreements with over 20 Interline Partners; along with preferential agreements with the leading global and local freight forwarders; and partnerships with over 25 global GSA’s, facilitate the consolidation of cargoes at the freighter-friendly Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
Astral Aviation is a member of the Kenya Association of Air Operators, African Airlines Association, The International Air Cargo Association (TIACA) and the Kenya Chamber of Commerce and Industry. In addition, Astral is a non-airline member of IATA Clearing House (ICH) and Multi-Lateral Interline Traffic Agreement (MITA).
Astral Aviation offers ad-hoc charters to over 50 destinations in the intra-Africa network on its own fleet as well as on the fleets of its network and interline partners. With experience of over ten years in Africa, Astral can arrange cargo and passenger charters at relatively short notice with reliable and cost-effective aircrafts.
Astral offers specialized project charters for various types of project-related cargoes. Amongst these are mining cargo, oil-field equipment, telecommunication equipment, drilling equipment, heavy-engineering products, motor vehicles and spares, to name but a few.
